Fitment Note

I bought the black 7" Z off-road kit as I also needed low beam LED headlights. They went with my classic 2011 Legacy Softtail. The low beam went on with no problems. I didn't need to the bracket with the set screws that the headlight was attached to, this is used to mount a lantern into a fairing or bat wing as some call it, all I needed was a light, the new mounting ring is designed that way that it conforms to the shape of the mounting bracket that bolts to the fairing so when you try to use it the headlight sits so sloppy in the headlight housing that it falls out so let's use the old mounting ring as we know There is a ridge on the inside edge of the mounting ring that fits into a groove on the front outside edge of the light fits. So when you tighten the 3 ring bolts, the ring pulls the light back to the top of the bucket. and the front lip on the ring holds the center of light. The new ring doesn't work because the depth on the sides of the ring is too deep, and it doesn't pull light back into the bucket because it's designed to mate with the mounting bracket. The inner edge of the stock edge retaining ring will not fit in the groove on the outer edge of the headlight as it is larger, but it will catch the edge of the light just outside the groove to keep it in place. I ended up using double sided foam tape around the inside of the ring to center the light while screwing in the 3 screws and the edges of the ring gripped the edges of the light to hold it. is to the right of 12 o'clock.
