I can't afford an $800-1000 scanner right now, but I needed something better than a basic $50-75 code reader. Manufacturer software is only $22 per manufacturer/brand per year, so maintenance is not expensive. So far from the manufacturer. Other expensive scanners require an annual upgrade of $400/year. If I were an auto repair shop it would be profitable, but I only work on my own cars. I do all my work myself if I have the right tools and I don't need a full hoist to do it. This bluetooth makes it easy to operate the car from my phone, run diagnostics and do things like TPMS and whatnot. I can actually read transmission and BCM codes and reset systems. These codes will not show up on a regular code scanner. If I'm buying a used car, this tool is VERY important to determine what's really wrong with the car before I buy it. I highly recommend it if you can't afford a tablet. Scanner. Now I have time to save up for one of them. I can also help others with repairs or knowledge. It's easy to use, just read the instructions and note that you need to download an additional app that runs with the main app. This application performs manufacturer-specific diagnostics.
