I work on a 2008 Nissan Titan and was able to remove the driver's side hub bearing. This tool only broke a quarter of the way on the passenger side. I used to weld when I was at work and I don't think one side of the surface to be welded needs to be smooth. Maybe their welder wasn't hot enough to actually fuse the two pieces together. As I said, I only cooked a little. The hammer I used is no bigger than this tool. You might think it can withstand the force of a hand hammer, but I was wrong. If you don't plan on using a rubber mallet I think you're fine, but a small sledgehammer will break this tool.
