🔧 Universal Wheel Bearing Hub Removal Tool – Replacing ATD Tools, Compatible with Axle Bolt Hubs (5, 6, and 8 Lug) Review

After two days of trying every other trick in the book except the hydraulic press, 4 hours with this and a 12 lb sled was the only way to get a very stuck hub out. Be careful when using it as it may wobble unpredictably. The hardware that came with it was the wrong thread pitch for my bolts, had to use jam nuts instead.

Good solid tool construction. But whoever chose the equipment was probably unfamiliar with the instrument. First, the lock washers are totally unsuitable for this tool. Second, the choice of nuts and washers is ridiculous. Kit includes 7/16"-20 nuts but no washers. The kit includes washers for M10 (or 3/8") but no nuts. For some reason there are 6 nuts M14x1.5 and only 2 M12x1.5. Null nuts for M12x1.25 or 1/2"-20 .

When I received the item I thought it was a piece of steel and well made but when I read another reviewer he said it was broken I thought if those welds aren't shit that's gotta hold on well it wasn't 2 swings and this thing went off like a rocket almost hitting my 3 year old from 15ft. So be careful. And for the company to use more heat to get those welds or something like that before someone actually gets hurt or dies.

01/23/2021 - There are many nuts and washers in the kit. None of them matched. I just bought some nuts that should work. But I have to wait a week. If so, I'll update my review. 01/28/2021 - So. I work on a 2008 Nissan Titan and was able to remove the driver's side hub bearing. This tool only broke a quarter of the way on the passenger side. I used to weld when I was at work and I don't think one side of the surface to be welded needs to be smooth. Maybe their welder wasn't hot enough to actually fuse the two pieces together. Stick a 10 year old front wheel bearing on a Chevrolet Suburban 4WD and 6 hits with a 10 pound sledgehammer and the bearing will come loose.
