Going white means you shouldn't expect them to fail, instead they barely dim the light. Also, don't expect the length to be as described. The inner thicker liner is slightly 2 inches shorter than the outer mesh layer and even 0.5 inches shorter than the listed size. I should never have used the measurements in the description to install them, so I regret not actually measuring them before hanging the rod on the freshly painted walls. They hang higher than I wanted, but I don't want to bother with patching and repainting the wall, so I'll just deal with it not looking quite how I wanted it.
