I am replacing my IP based security cameras. I already had BNC/Power Baluns so I wanted to reuse my CAT6 cables and this helped! This is how cameras can be easily installed without POE! The only downside (and not a fault at all with this product) is that the RJ45 ends are already wired, so you can't put the waterproof sleeves that come with the outdoor cameras over the cable (see photo where the balun Stern and waterproof sleeves are over the balun) but the ethernet port on the camera is left open in inclement weather). I might suggest getting some RJ45 FF power and trunk extensions and just extending the wires inside out so you can create your own CAT6 patch cord that you can waterproof. But it's picky and there's something to consider. ...these baluns are really perfect!
