For those of you looking for a Johnson outboard engine repair manual, do yourself a favor and find the specific genuine Johnson outboard engine repair manual. This manual is very poorly printed, the images are so blurry that they are unusable. This manual tries to be everything for all the different engines in this power range and year and is of no use. Also, the instructions are ambiguous at best and refer to specific engine conditions, e.g. B. Linking to a tuning procedure based on your motor's output amperage, but do not specify your motor and/or your motor's output amperage. When I scoured the internet to determine my engine's performance, it was listed as different than what is mentioned in this book. This has led to complete confusion. And I'm not mechanical by any stretch, quite the opposite, I'm a qualified machinist, chartered welder, chartered diesel engine mechanic, HVACR certified, and spa certified. So I've done mechanical work in all sorts of areas of mechanics all my life. This is my first experience with outboard motors and they are different from other motors you may have worked with. You need specific information and accurate information to set up, command and control these engines. This book is too ambiguous to provide useful information. I then had the opportunity to speak to an experienced marine mechanic and he confirmed what I am saying here, these books try to cover too many different engines and do nothing well or accurately. His advice to me was the same as what I'm giving here: if you want to repair your outboard yourself and you have the information you need to do it, get the original manufacturer's original service manual. Don't waste your time with this book.
