My 2002 New Beetle accidentally had traction control problems and I have a Roadi RDT45 that I bought over 5 years ago that couldn't read any codes. Researching the VW forums I read that some items are only picked up by "high end" readers like this one or the much more expensive VCDS. The VS450 could read the code that Roadi couldn't and unlike Roadi the VS450 has a full screen mode that tells you what the code is instead of having to look it up yourself. To be honest, these are completely different products. The Roadi is the basic solid-state reader I keep in my car, which gets over 150 degrees in the summer, while the VS450 is the more powerful reader, which I won't keep in the car for fear the heat would Destroy the LCD. Screen. Having both, I'm fine with that setup, but if I had to choose between one or the other I'd buy a VS450 and risk being stuck in a hot car. It's also cheaper than other readers!
