The device is sold by Realtek Semiconductor Corp. as USB 10/100/1G/2.5G LAN ' is detected and the USB speed is rated 'Up to 5Gbps' in the system report. But when I go to the "Network System Settings" panel for this adapter and go to the advanced settings, it only shows "1000baseT". No options for 2.5Gbps or 2500baseT. However, when I run an iperf3 speed test between my Mac and another 2.5Gb/s device, I can get 2.34Gb/s (which is the expected speed for a 2.5GbE network). Apparently, Apple's current version of System Preferences lies about network speeds for a 2.5G adapter like this. I have also tested and compared with plug adapters and they both work the same way and offer the same performance. For some reason they both give me 2.34 Gbps down but only 1.26 Gbps up. Not really sure why, maybe a Realtek chip or a network limitation in macOS. This is definitely the smallest 2.5Gb/s USB adapter I've ever used and I love the size to toss in my bag.
