I usually don't like such products. A 2nd generation Apple TV that allows remote control capabilities was scary! I have a multimedia stand in my master bedroom and I don't like the Apple TV standing on a wooden surface. Therefore it was hidden in a closed compartment for the time being, the problem is that infrared remote control signals do not penetrate into wood or very small gaps where the compartment closes. I had to hold the remote on the funniest occasions, and I never usually pressed it. I don't like keeping this compartment open at night because my cable modem and router also tuck away neatly in there and have bright LED lights that make it difficult to sleep. i love the dark Ho loves hiding the Apple TV while he still has a remote job. Let's quickly admit that each TV manufacturer has unique rear vents. I have a 47" Sony whose vents are NOT within 6" of the top. They are 17 inches lower. The installation instructions state that the mount must be placed within 6 inches of the top of the TV for maximum remote success. The only way to do that would be with the included adhesive mounting option. I really didn't want to put permanent glue on the back of my TV. Instead of doing that, I tried different mounting hooks on the vent closer to the bottom half of the TV. After deciding which vent clip hooks worked best, I attached them to the mount and laid them in place. I unpacked my Apple TV and plugged everything back in. I kept my fingers crossed as I was concerned that the mount 17 inches from the top of the TV would get in the way of success. Well I'm happy to report that I'm not having any issues with the remote connection. No need to point it in a weird way or at the ceiling, as long as it's within about 140 degrees of the TV, it works! This solution is perfect for all 1-3 generation Apple TV owners. I have a 4th gen in my living room that uses bluetooth instead of infrared. Too bad Apple didn't use RF or Bluetooth on previous models, but this solution solves the problem. I can get another one for my guest room so the Apple TV can be hidden behind the TV as well.
