Review on 🔧 Cal-Van Tools 389-100 14mm Multi-Insert by Hector Nito

Great design, terrible quality control. The male thread (which was 3/4 x 16) was cut smaller, probably due to a blunt CNC tool. This resulted in a catastrophic failure, i.e. the insert jammed and broke during installation, requiring the cylinder head to be removed and the insert unscrewed from the inside. The new insert had to be screwed into the 3/4 x 16 die to clean the threads, after that all went according to plan. That little detail; turned a $300, 30-minute job into a $3,000, 30-hour job. My blood pressure still rises when I think about it.
