I received a set of cheap kitchen knives which are very soft to the touch and come with a sharpening steel. I just had a bit of luck with the stick technique, so I figured this might work better. When I used this sharpener it seemed to help the knife it was tested on get back to where it could cut better. I also had a very similar sharpener from a different brand and used it on other knives in the same set. These knives cut much better than the ones I've used this on. I have since put this sharpener in a drawer and kept another for use in the kitchen with this set of knives.
