Let me start by saying that I am an elderly woman in my thirties. Not at hand. I was very proud of myself that I could collect and hang all of this myself. Let me give you some advice. I have a lifetime 10ft SOT kayak. You will need to drill four holes for each bracket. I lifted the bracket to where I wanted to hang it. I then used my spike finder to find the next spike. I made a mark in the top left hole, then used my leveler to line it up and made marks for the other three holes. I measured over 84 inches from where I left my mark based on a recommendation left in another review. I found another bolt around that 84" mark and used the same method to make four points for drilling. I measured 54.5 inches from the bottom for my bottom holes. This height was enough for my kayak to be taller than my bike. I used a 3/16 bit to make the holes. I placed the two left holes right in the middle of the stud. The right holes went into the drywall and were just for stabilization. The same goes for the second bracket. Once the holes were in, I simply lifted the bracket and attached each bracket with screws. The whole process probably took about 20 minutes. The reason I'm giving it four stars out of five is because, as others have said, the wall plugs and screws that come with it really suck. But I managed to get it working. Just be gentle with these anchors. But if you're nervous about them or they break, I recommend just grabbing one of Ace Hardware's anchors and screws and telling them you need something more permanent. The screw holding the two parts of the bracket sticks out a little. You can see it in my second photo. On my particular kayak, the screw didn't rub. This is just something to keep in mind if your kayak is a different shape. I have a flat butt. I had no problems. For the $20 price tag, I can't recommend it highly enough. It gave me back my floor space and now my garage is a lot more organized.
