Review on CaddyTek Golf Laser Rangefinder: Pin Seeking, Slope Compensate Distance, CaddyView V2+Slope by Rod Evans

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Fairly good range finder - not perfect

I am quite happy with this range finder. It works well and is effective both with and without the tilt function. It's very easy to switch from tilt to non-tilt simply by quickly swapping the chip panel on the side, which also provides visual confirmation that you're not using the tilt feature in a tournament. The 6x viewfinder is very clear and upgrades a basic monocular telescope, allowing you to see distant objects more clearly. And for the price I paid, which was well below most of the competition, this is amazing value for money. Still, he's not perfect. It's a little harder to be sure you're reading the correct target distance as there's no confirmation like jitter or buzzing (push technology) like some other competing products. Once you can spot a more distant target (trees, etc.) behind the flagpole and the flagpole itself, reading the tree or bush behind the flag at 20-30 yards is fairly accurate but too easy. . If I had to make this purchase again I would have a hard time choosing between this very good CaddyTek range finder - excellent quality for less than half the price - and the more expensive Bushnell V4 with tilt and jolt. I still think the CaddyTek value will benefit from this as I'm generally happy with it. UPDATE JULY 2018 I downgraded my rating by one star from 4 to 3. The tilt function no longer worked at all, even with the built-in "tilt" chip. And the lack of wobbling/humming (Jolt Pinseeker) is getting more and more annoying. It seems to be getting harder and harder to focus on the real goal. I think I'll most likely bite the bullet soon and pay a terrible price for one of the best range finders, like a good Bushnell. Too bad, but this Caddytek showed promise. But overall I'm disappointed after prolonged use.

Pros
  • Patented Single step "mode switch" between non-tilt compensated range display
Cons
  • The list goes on.
