Easy to use, smooth, strong enough. Looks great painted in gloss black with black wooden buttons. Daughter is happy with her bookshelf/shelves. Please note that they have not been prepared in any way. She took them out of the box and painted them with glossy black spray paint. Her wooden buttons were a bit small and she ended up smearing glue on them. They are wide enough that you can find a bobby pin to fasten one side. You can use anchors for the other side. With two screws in the stud, you don't need that. This width also gives you leeway in placement, depending on which side you "make safe". EDIT: The wooden knobs mentioned were purchased separately. They do not come with wooden buttons.
