Review on ๐Ÿš— Dorman M390285 Brake Master Cylinder: Perfect Fit for Toyota Models by Joseph Mannasseh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

like most non-genuine parts were not finished either.

My review is still for fit and initial function, I haven't had this in a very long time so if it breaks I will come back and replace it. I installed this on a Tacoma in September 1994 (first year, first run). My original had 21 years and 185,000 miles. It only broke because my wife bled with me and she kicked all the way to the bottom and broke the seals on the original before I warned her about it. I installed it on Saturday (April 18th). 2015) and stood perfectly. This item, like most replacement parts, was not machined in the same way as the Denso it replaced, but the finishing was precise and precise, if not beautiful. The 4 bolt holes along the brake booster and the moldings in general had less than perfect edge finishes, but that in no way detracts from functionality. It's just that if you're snotty, you'll probably want to pay five times the cost of a Toyota OEM Denso. Both brake lines are well screwed, the threads on the pipes were perfectly processed and the electrical display clicked quite normally. I'm not really sure if this works (I'm thinking as I write this) because I've always had a full tank. I might draw a bit to see if the "brake light" comes on (for those who don't know, Taco's electronic brake light also warns you when you're low on brake fluid and is very sensitive). It is supplied with two plugs which are simply hand screwed into the fluid ports for this purpose. It took about 70 strokes to pump out all the air (to be expected). I pulled the rubber and bolts out of the old (original Denso) just in case, and then recycled the old casting and threw the bin away.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Fading
