By NOT consulting others and NOT pulling the original, I made the mistake of taking the part I needed and buying a "popular" with good reviews. They were great but didn't work with my setup. So returned (lost $7 on shipping!) but bought these. It was just what I needed as a solid form precision replacement part for old (did I say old?) screen doors. The plasticky nature of their construction will result in eventual disintegration as was the case with the originals, but I was so glad I was able to find the parts and NOT have to replace the (more expensive) whole door! Pulling out the old, cracked and falling apart wheel block was more difficult than putting it back in place. It took me needle nose pliers and a flathead screwdriver (and more patience than when I was born) but I removed all 3 cracked wheels on the doors, installed and adjusted the new wheels - and now all the doors slide smoothly! Less than 30 minutes. It actually took 5, but I argued a little with the old details. The adjustment screw that raises and lowers the wheel on the bottom rail is accessible through a hole in the side/edge of my screen door as shown in the photo. That is why they are shaped like this: first the "lever” is inserted, then the lower part of the "wheel” snaps into place. Then adjust the wheel by turning the screw to the right or left depending on how you need it. I command you to find a balance so that the screen slides horizontally and the top and bottom close at the same time. The plastic screw on the lever doesn't come out of the hole in the side panel - it's barely visible (just like the original) so I think that's how the mechanism works and fits. But the "hidden screw" requires you to use a smaller screwdriver to adjust the wheel. (see fig.). We have dozens of screwdrivers, so I was able to use a relatively small one (even a "pocket" screwdriver will do) that fits about 1/8" into the hole and easily tightens the pan head screw. I'm so glad that they are available through Revain Cheap and easy repairs for a summer breeze!
