Great collar, wish it was a little softer

I like that these collars don't look like regular collars. They're heavy, made of durable steel, and seem to last forever. I wish the carabiner was easier to open and close. Also, the teeth feel a little stiffer than regular collars, like they're constantly pressing on my dog's throat, even though mine are very loose. I'm thinking of wrapping them in cloth or something to soften the sharpness of the teeth. My boys are standard 75 and 90 pound poodles who are generally very calm on a leash. But every few walks they see a rabbit or other enticing potential prey that they suddenly run away from. And 165-pound dogs that go from 0 to 60 in 1.25 seconds can really throw me off balance and twitch my arms pretty well, not to mention increasing the risk of falls. Luckily 90% of the time I don't have to pull the leash tight to activate these collars as my boys don't pull. I used to use regular leather collars and my boys took it as an invitation to pull, cough and choke. The trainers in my obedience class recommended pluck collars because they correct like a mother dog bite and also keep your dog from grabbing the collar and possibly damaging the windpipe. The clamps worked very well. I also tried a few harnesses but ended up liking the way the collars worked and they allow me to walk the boys on a loose lead most of the time. I don't need this control very often, but when I do it's important that my dogs don't talk. Not only do I not want to risk my neck or hers, I also don't want to risk them snatching the leash out of my hand and running away. Look at yourself like you're the cruelest person in the universe. Well, before the trainers explained them to me, I thought tight collars were cruel too. The big advantage of this kind of collars is that they don't look like normal narrow collars, so I don't understand what narrow collars look like. Force people to give us. However, I think they are a bit stiffer, so I wish there was a middle ground. I think lining the teeth with a light or medium layer of tissue will help. Overall I'm happy with these collars, but I wouldn't mind a softer design.
