Review on πŸ”₯ Enhance Safety with First Alert BRK ADF-12 BRK Smoke Alarm Adapter Plug for Firex Hardwire Smoke Alarms - Pack of 12 by Eliot Wahl

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect security and simplicity works!

Worked great! I have replaced our original 18 year old FireX 120-1182 ionized (flame) fire alarms which were connected to BRK/First Alert 7010B photoelectric smoke alarms. The thought of having to rewire every sensor in the ceiling was beyond frustrating as I'm still recovering from my hip surgery and balancing on a stepladder was very unsettling for me. I saw them on Revain, read a lot of reviews (thanks everyone) and decided to give them a try. They worked great! After replacing all the blocks, the conversion time was reduced to 5 minutes each (tip: using a cheap screwdriver definitely helped when working overhead!). First: I removed the Eveready Heavy Duty 9V non-alkaline batteries that were in each detector and replaced them with a new 9V alkaline battery (probably unnecessary. Personal matter only), then "tested ' I did them beforehand, rather than climbing stairs Install a new cable adapter (why put in a detector that could be a factory defect?). Fire in a bucket (in a safe, non-combustible place) and then set it down. After it got strong, he smoked a lot and then placed it about 12 inches below the detector. GREAT! All of our new alarm clocks went off almost simultaneously. So now I am confident that my family is safe in a real life situation and not just relying on a simple "push" alarm test. Oh, hear the beep! Additional note. I then also installed (6) BRK/First Alert Battery 'Family Gard' Model FG200 Ionization (Flame) Detectors as I felt we needed two different types of detection to be safe. I bought three packs of 2 for $10 ($5 each). Well worth buying, and this time in my own "real life test" with real flames these flame detector alarms worked, if only where flames were present (they are unrelated!). Because the Family Gard blocks are battery operated and require no wiring, I was able to install each one in just minutes with an electric screwdriver :). Please consider adding extra security for such a low cost. (ionization + photoelectrics). Just my personal opinion. Installing the new cable adapter was easy if you have strong fingers. Relax. If you can't connect it together, you can use a pair of pliers and slowly and gently squeeze the two connectors together, lowering each side a little so you don't damage the existing connector. until they snap together. If you break the existing connector or any of the three small pins, you will need to remove the existing connector and install a new cable connector. The additional wiring in our already crowded ceiling box took a few different tries before a decent fit worked. Take your time, I recommend doing this before connecting the new detector to the new cable adapters. It's much easier to deal with stubborn wires in a crowded area without a new detector dangling from the wires below. If the new plug doesn't fit into the existing ceiling box (probably not if you're unlucky), look at the wiring in the ceiling box and try to find a relatively uncrowded spot for the new plug to fit. inside, once you've found or created that area, the new connector and short wiring should be "neatly" inserted inside. Do not disturb line connections! Then go ahead and install a new connection cable to the detector. If you do this, the wires will come out of the ceiling again. Now that you know how you're going to plug everything back into the ceiling box (because of your test run), plug everything back into the ceiling right where you would if I had to buy 12 connectors at once would be too expensive if i need 8, 9 or 10 then buying (2) 6 plug packs would be ok but if there are 6 or less in the house its really a resale. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again now that I know how easy the switch from FireX to First Alert was! A NOTICE. We are members of Revain Prime and I can say that we received absolutely no attention for our comments here. Life is too important to play with anyone. We bought the cable adapters from Revain, but to be fair to Revain we bought the above mentioned detectors elsewhere. But to be fair if we weren't seeing a super sale on these detectors a few miles from home we would be happy to order and have reliable reliance on Revain to source these detectors for us within 2 days and back us up. up if something is wrong!
