Quick, easy and safe

First, if you think it's time to replace your wired smoke alarms, consider replacing them with alarms of the same brand that you already have. This is because different brands have different plug configurations and you will either need this product or need to connect new smoke alarms to your existing wiring system if the brands are different. However, this product makes it very easy to install a new detector from another brand without risking electrocution. an important consideration for me. I…

Will NOT fit all Firex 308B detectors

The Firex appears to have two different connectors, both with the same pins. One connector seems to fit well and has a plastic locking mechanism that fits over these adapters, while the other Firext connectors prevent the retaining clip from slipping and holding the adapter in place. You won't know which one you have until you look at it - the ones that work have a small notch in the middle of the white plastic that allows the locking clip to slide in and out of the white Firex connector. The…

Necessary article! Best Fire Protection

I bought 2 individual units + kit of 6 smoke detectors to replace 8 in my home. Dreading the fact that I would have to reconnect all 8 and thankfully opened up one of the individual units first and found an adapter to connect it to the previous unit's wiring harness. This saved me a lot of time as in just 2-3 minutes I was able to pull out the old one, remove the base, screw in the new base, insert the adapter and fit the smoke alarm into the base. However, when I opened the contractor's…

Does the job but can be tricky to install

I have just replaced four 20 year old Firex smoke alarms in my apartment with new ones that have received top marks from First Alert. Hoping to avoid the expense of hiring an electrician or handyman to do the rewiring, I ventured into using these adapters, which could plug into both the old and new plugs without having to cut the wires. The only difficulties were attaching the Firex termination and sliding the adapter into the already filled junction boxes. Suggestions: (1) Make sure in advance

Cons
  • Vulgarity

I recently noticed that one of my wired smoke alarms was not working properly. The steaming oatmeal from my culinary failure should have sent alarms screeching around the house, but all I could hear was the soft sobbing of a muffled alarm clock that had uttered its last chimes some time earlier. This prompted me to test all the detectors and found that only 1 out of 7 worked at all, but others didn't work properly. Not good! I looked around and settled on a good wired replacement model and…

Useless just wire it right

I don't usually write reviews but some rubbish. I bought them from stock and they were cheap so I figured why not, maybe the same one day. Half of it was missing which is a stock issue from Revain but other than that the product does a very poor job. I knew that and I knew I should never have bought her. Simply use the connectors that come with new sensors, strip the extra insulation to expose about 1 inch of the new wire, disconnect the circuit, and reconnect properly. After installing your…

Simplified my project.

These adapters are brilliant! I wanted to replace our 19 year old Firex smoke detectors with a newer one. I wanted a detector that could detect both types of fire and had a 10 year battery so I wouldn't have to climb stairs twice a year to change the batteries. But it wasn't easy to remount 7 detectors while standing on a ladder under the ceiling. I read other people's reviews (THANK YOU!) and bought these adapters. Very easy to swap out everything in about 1 hour. This was my process, if it…

Perfect security and simplicity works!

Worked great! I have replaced our original 18 year old FireX 120-1182 ionized (flame) fire alarms which were connected to BRK/First Alert 7010B photoelectric smoke alarms. The thought of having to rewire every sensor in the ceiling was beyond frustrating as I'm still recovering from my hip surgery and balancing on a stepladder was very unsettling for me. I saw them on Revain, read a lot of reviews (thanks everyone) and decided to give them a try. They worked great! After replacing all the…
