Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Enhance Safety with First Alert BRK ADF-12 BRK Smoke Alarm Adapter Plug for Firex Hardwire Smoke Alarms - Pack of 12 by Michael Bryan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

They were a great fit to upgrade all of the interconnected smoke alarms in my house.

I recently noticed that one of my wired smoke alarms was not working properly. The steaming oatmeal from my culinary failure should have sent alarms screeching around the house, but all I could hear was the soft sobbing of a muffled alarm clock that had uttered its last chimes some time earlier. This prompted me to test all the detectors and found that only 1 out of 7 worked at all, but others didn't work properly. Not good! I looked around and settled on a good wired replacement model and ordered enough to build an entire house. It wasn't until they arrived that I realized that none of the new smoke alarms will work with the old (Firex) wiring connections! One option is to unplug the AC and interconnect wires, cut off the old plugs, and then use a nut to connect the new pigtail that came with the unit. Seems like a lot of work to do at the top of the stairs 7 times. Then I came across these adapters, of course I only needed 7, but buying 12 was cheaper. These fit perfectly! Replacing the smoke alarms was as easy as unplugging the old one, plugging in this adapter, and plugging in the new smoke alarm. Saved me a ton of time and possibly back pain when I had to redo the wiring.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
