Review on πŸ”₯ Enhance Safety with First Alert BRK ADF-12 BRK Smoke Alarm Adapter Plug for Firex Hardwire Smoke Alarms - Pack of 12 by Dang Esq

Simplified my project.

These adapters are brilliant! I wanted to replace our 19 year old Firex smoke detectors with a newer one. I wanted a detector that could detect both types of fire and had a 10 year battery so I wouldn't have to climb stairs twice a year to change the batteries. But it wasn't easy to remount 7 detectors while standing on a ladder under the ceiling. I read other people's reviews (THANK YOU!) and bought these adapters. Very easy to swap out everything in about 1 hour. This was my process, if it helps you: FIRST DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE SMOKE DETECTORS IN THE CONTROL UNIT!1. Detach the old sd (smoke detector) from the wall bracket.2. Disconnect the old SD from the existing wiring harness.3. Remove the old wall mount by loosening the two screws about 1/4 inch. Install a new wall mount for the First Alert unit. (I bought a First Alert 3120B if you're curious.) My new mounts used the same screws as the old mount. Push in, twist to secure and tighten screws. 5. Push excess wiring into the wall cavity. I was lucky that there was a lot of space. I used pliers to get a nice satisfying click as my fingers are not very strong as an older woman. Attach the new SD to its wall mount 9. Activate the new SD according to their instructions which in my case involved pulling out a tab which activated the battery etc. 10. Plug the SD back into the switch box That's it! Thank you for this product!
