My two puppies only wore these collars for about 3 months. I, too, had issues with the way the collar is constructed, but managed to make do. I did like the reflective trim and the softness of the collar itself so they were comfortable on my girls when they were fitting correctly. The one thing I really have an issue with is the way you are supposed to attach their tags. Instead of a metal ring, there is a tiny plastic attachment held onto the collar by a bit of fabric. One dog lost her tags as the ribbon came loose. (Luckily, we found them.) The second puppy's tags were holding on by a few threads. Fortunately, they had almost outgrown them anyway, but I certainly DID NOT buy these collars again.
