Review on Studpop® 100480 SP Studpop Magnetic Finder by Kyle Lawrence

Revainrating 5 out of 5

plastering work; More reliable than electronic rod finder

I was hanging a long closet rod on a plaster wall but wasn't sure the brackets were actually bolted to the frame. After many misreads, I found what appeared to be solid wood behind the plaster with a small drill. My spike finder was ten years old, so I decided that modern devices should be more accurate. I searched Revain and bought an electronic device with good reviews, but then I saw the good reviews and low price on Studpop and decided it was worth the risk. The day it arrived I went to check the position of the rod brackets for my closet. I was amused at how easily Studpop found the nails and thus the studs under the cast. I was also relieved to find that every bracket was studded. The secret of Studpop must lie in a new generation of powerful magnets. When pushed over a wall, it gives an instant and clear signal with both a click and a tap of the touch switch - all without batteries. I'm buying a few more for stockings now.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Mostly good but...
