Despite my doubts, it works.

It really works. It takes a bit of fiddling to figure out how it works, but I set up my TV with one of these and it's been enough time to make sure my TV doesn't fall off. A word of warning I have white walls and rubbing the underside along the wall left marks, cover with a paper towel to avoid leaving marks on the wall.

  • Hard wearing finish

Stud PUPPY - Measuring and Marking Tools

I can't believe it. We live in an old house from 1919 with plastered and turned walls. Finding studs has always been a problem. None of the electronic spike finders work. Or none of the ones I bought anyway. I saw this at Revain and thought I'd risk it at that price point. This thing is TAAAAAAO simple and easy to use. As soon as I took it out of the box I found studs all over the house. It's cool, buy it.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Do not worry! in Stud Finder

The idea of this sounded good and it was cheap so I bought it. And it works as described, but the magnet is so weak that the pin can only be found directly above the nail. Move it half an inch in any direction and it will disappear. Electronic spike finders are notorious for being sloppy, but at least you can make a run through anywhere on the wall and expect to find a spike. Unless you actually see a nailhead at Studpop, it's sheer luck whether you find a bobby pin or not. (And if you see the…

Nice little herd finder.

Attention: Although the picture shows 4 Spike Finder, you will only receive one. And as another poster mentioned, if you buy yourself small, strong magnets from the hardware store, you have essentially the same functionality. However, since you get that big plastic ring around the magnet, you actually have something to hold on to when moving the device up the wall. Also, it's pretty cute to see how the centerpiece draws attention when you're over a nail or screw. Plus, it becomes its own…

Incredibly easy to use

I was desperately trying to find bolts in our lathe and plaster the walls. Electronic stud finders, tapping on the wall to acoustically locate the studs, trying to hang a magnet from a string on the wall - nothing worked, and in this little old house I HAVE to have closets on the walls. I ordered StudPop in desperation. Honestly? I thought it was a trick. I AM AMAZED. StudPop really clicks into place, you can hear and feel it when it finds a nail. I like to mark spike locations around the…

wall plaster? Just buy it already.

I found this gadget via a blog post while looking for instructions on how to add crown molding and cornices to our plastered walls. It is very difficult to find studs on plastered and turned walls. Regular hairpin seekers don't work, and simple "cavity tapping" doesn't work at all. - If you are NOT on a stud you will need to use special plaster anchors to support the screws and nails will not work at all. . Plaster crumbles, unlike drywall. THIS magic magnetic popper is such a silly simple tool

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Has quirks

Works like a charm on lath and plaster

If you've got lath and plaster and no drywall, don't worry about a nail finder or one of those smartphone-connected radars. Just use StudPop. It works and it works very well. With battens and plaster, you can sometimes rely on screws biting the battens to buy enough lighter items - small shelves, bookshelf speakers, and so on. But for monitor mounts, TVs, etc. you need to find your cleats. This little piece of ABS and neodymium (made in the USA!) uses an old craftsman trick to find the nails…

  • Great for a small home

plastering work; More reliable than electronic rod finder

I was hanging a long closet rod on a plaster wall but wasn't sure the brackets were actually bolted to the frame. After many misreads, I found what appeared to be solid wood behind the plaster with a small drill. My spike finder was ten years old, so I decided that modern devices should be more accurate. I searched Revain and bought an electronic device with good reviews, but then I saw the good reviews and low price on Studpop and decided it was worth the risk. The day it arrived I went to…
