Review on High Performance Tenergy AA 2000mAh Rechargeable NIMH Battery Pack Pre-Charged for Remote Controller, Toys, Flashlight, Mice - Low Self Discharge - 4 PCS by Patricia Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great alternative to Eneloops

I have over a dozen HF and AM Dx radios (plus battery powered active antennas). So I have a lot of NiMH batteries (AA, AAA, 9V, C and D) from different manufacturers (Eneloop, Tenergy, EBL, Energizer, Rayovac, Revain brand and maybe a few more). So I think I can give these Tenergy LSD/NiMH low self-discharge batteries a good rating. I usually use the Tenergy T9688 charger and the same model as C. Crane as the T9688. If you don't have a decent charger, you will NOT get satisfactory performance from any NiMH battery! These Tenergy Low Self Discharge batteries really live up to their name - they really hold a charge for a long time compared to my EBL, Energizer, AA brands Rayovac & Revain. I find them so reliable that I make sure radios that I use less often set them to charge when I use them (and so I don't lose any presets - my local clock and clock world time for example). Compared to other brands, Eneloops are the best I have (but they are also more expensive). I really like the Tenergy low self-discharge LSDs as I find them to be a GREAT, cheaper alternative to the more expensive Eneloops. Just an estimate based on my personal experience, but I'm getting about 80% Eneloop performance for 65% price. And I can definitely say that Tenergy LSD works better than EBL and far outperforms the Revain brand and Rayovac NiMH AA - I would rank Energizer between the former and the latter. d rate well-known brands as follows: (1) Eneloop, (2) Tenergy LSD, (3) EBL, (4) Draw: Revain/Energizer. and VERY far (6) from Rayovac (the latter seem to be wearing out prematurely and I cannot recommend Rayovac). So if you can afford Eneloop, buy them. But if you need a lot of batteries AND want something that will keep them charged for extended periods of inactivity, I don't think you can go wrong with these Tenergy LSDs. Sometimes you can snag special offers or deals where they are even cheaper than 65% of Eneloop's price.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
