I wanted to make sure my snake could sit fully in its bowl and not drown. I am convinced that these goals have been achieved with this purchase. It's big enough and flat enough for my needs. BUT I have some concerns. You have to make sure it's level or very close to the scale as at every angle water pools to one side and I've had quite a spill due to misjudgment on my part. Higher walls could have been made to avoid such problems. In addition, it is brown and not as beautiful as in the picture. It's actually a bit see-through under her heat lamp. This works well as long as you're not concerned with aesthetics or the need to clean up the clutter.
