Review on Autel TS601 TPMS Relearn Tool: Advanced Version for Sensor Programming, OBDII Code Reader & Active Tests by Brandon Hilton

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Good sensor scanner, bad TPMS programmer.

Note: If for any reason you do not find this review helpful, please indicate so in the comments. Be honest. I know this is a long read, but it's quite technical and thorough. If you don't like this, it's too long, just ignore it. Here is my experience with TS601. It generally performs 4 functions for TPMS: 1) scan sensors 2) reprogram sensors 3) retrain the car computer with new sensor IDs (via OBDII) 4) read the sensor IDs from the car computer (via OBDII). Yes, it scans sensors well. And it can reprogram the sensor ID numbers with any numbers, e.g. B. replicate (clone) the old ones so that the car's computer accepts the new sensors as original. However, if the old sensor is defective (not responding) or lost (after removal) or the old sensors have been swapped (e.g. due to a previous tire change or swap) and replaced with new ones with new ID numbers, then you need to relearn the car's computer with new sensor IDs. Here's the problem: The TS601 changes the sensor IDs during the relearn process, so the car computer then reads the sensor IDs in a different order than they were scanned. Please see the attached pictures. Here are the details. To relearn, I need to look for new sensors that cycle through the car in the following order: FL, FR, RR, RL (as shown on the TS601 display). The data was shown as follows (in my case): FL 7A46852FR B4E1847RR A233852RL 1898850 I then connected the tool to the OBDII port to write the sensor ID numbers to the car's computer for it to read the new sensor numbers can learn IDs. After I pressed YES to confirm, the tool wrote the displayed sensor ID numbers into the car's computer. I then copied the sensor information from the car's computer to make sure the relearn process was done correctly and it showed: ID1 B4E1847ID2 A233852ID3 1898850ID4 7A46852 See that? Now completely different attributes: ID1, ID2, ID3, ID4 instead of FL, FR, RR, RL. Compare these ID1, ID2, ID3, ID4 with those you saw before (FL, FR, RR, RL) and notice the difference. Sensor identification numbers are reordered. Now a good question: What is the relationship between these attributes? Or more precisely: is FL the same as ID1 or ID4? Those who gave it 5 stars probably didn't consider this issue. Either the TS601 is not writing the sensor ID numbers correctly via OBDII or reading them incorrectly, the problem is software bugs in the TS601. Furthermore, it works with two different sets of attributes (ID1, ID2, ID3, ID4) and (FL, FR, RR, RL) and there is no information in the guide or anywhere else about the relationship of these sets. Autel support could not explain the situation. Numerous software updates were unsuccessful. I ended up sending the TS601 back to the supplier.
