Review on Roof bike rack THULE ProRide 598 aluminum by Ewa Makarewicz ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didnt expect the quality to be so high.

Mount 598 was only recently acquired by our company. I will mention right off the bat that we decided between number 591 and number 598, and after reading literally only one article, the decision was very clear to us (I will not detail the improvements because people with a higher level of literacy have already done so). The fact that the trunk (crossbars) has wing bar evo gum fitted under the "crosses," which does not need to be trimmed, rendered our decision unambiguous. Before that, we used an Evroride 943 on the towbar, which worked beautifully. However, because the car had been changed, and the previous owners did not want the towbar installed on the new car, we chose to master the roof mounts instead. The fact that we intend to buy a box for skiing at some point in the future prompted us to make the decision to "kill two birds with one stone." To tell you the truth, you experience happy emotions even when you are packaging and assembling thule. Everything is simple, you don't need to adjust anything, it is securely connected, and what a wonderful thing to say about something that is already securely fastened. The process of mounting four mounts on a vehicle takes approximately ten minutes and is fairly manageable by a single person. But mounting bicycles to a mount is a more challenging process, and while I've only managed it with the help of four people so far, I hope that with more practice and training I'll be able to handle it on my own. It could be simpler if there was a sedan, but it's not practical for a crossover vehicle in this situation. "Crossbeams evo" was placed in place on a permanent basis; it seems as though it does not obstruct the view, the noise level is truly 0 and I was not aware of the amount of gas that was consumed. They rode along the highway to the region, kept the speed at 110-120 km/h, didn't make much noise (with the windows open you can hear a little), and they hold up very well. There were no problems installing four bicycles on the roof (the photo clearly shows two bicycles with 26 wheels and two with 27.5 inch wheels). In terms of fuel consumption, it is not totally clear; in the city, the consumption was 8.3 liters, although on the highway, it should have fallen, but nevertheless showed 8.3; this is presumably due to the presence of bicycles. Negative aspects include the fact that, due to the height of the vehicle, a nice, foldable ladder that is comfortable and not overly enormous is required; we are currently searching for one. The four keys needed to close the fasteners were, of course, marked with electrical tape in a variety of colors to ensure that they would not be mixed up (although we are considering buying a set of latches that would only require one key for eight or fifteen locks). Since we've used Thule mounts for the past seven years, we can attest to their reliability and user-friendliness, both of which are important considerations for us.

Pros
  • Simplicity, dependability of the fastening, and the possibility to install four different fasteners on the machine are all desirable qualities.
Cons
  • Mounting on a crossover requires the use of a stool in addition to the assistance of another person since it is inconvenient. There were no defects discovered in the mount itself.
