Review on Grey Pneumatic 1226M 26 Piece Length by Brad Mastermind

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The guarantee is a joke!

I bought these sockets because I thought they were very good value for money. They seemed to work well and I was comforted by the GP's "lifetime guarantee". But after only using them for about 6 months I started having problems with the ones I use the most (10mm, 13mm etc) where they slip off the screw heads or round off. You can wiggle them at the head of the screw and feel how loose they are compared to the others. So I went to their website to find out how to replace them under warranty and was disappointed to read that the warranty doesn't cover "worn out" heads. before use" and they do not guarantee any instruments not purchased from an authorized dealer, which Revain is not. I emailed their customer service department detailing my frustration and seeing if they do anything about it .The support staff were friendly and quick to respond but ultimately weren't any help. They only sell their products in bulk so don't make any guarantees themselves, you need to find an 'authorized retailer' ok but the nearest retailer is 1, 5 hours away not worth driving to replace some sockets *if* they even have any as wear is not covered they said wear is normal and their heads are as good as snap-on, Matco, Craftsman I understand Impact bushings are made of softer metal to absorb shock and they wear out, but I've been using the same snap-on and even Craftsm for over 15 years on drum kits and never had a problem with them. . So GPUs are clearly not the caliber of a craftsman (notorious for their steady decline in quality over the last few years) and if 6 months is an acceptable lifespan for professional tools (and not considered a defect) then I will no longer be buying Gray Pneumatic products . .
