My alternator happened to stop working and after troubleshooting I decided to order this carburetor. After installation, my generator started working! Hooray! (I thought). but under load the alternator could flare up so badly that I feared it would damage my AC and other components (this was with 1 AC unit not the 2 I was able to try). After further troubleshooting I decided to order a new carburetor from another Amazon seller. When the carburetor arrived I installed it in about 10 minutes and the generator ran perfectly smooth no matter what the load. I did not notify this seller when they went through the return window. In any case, if this seller's carburetor adjustment is causing spatter, instead of trying to eliminate the spatter, one can simply purchase another carburetor; Apparently, spikes can be caused by poorly regulated carbohydrates. I have an Onan 5500 Marquis Gold and it fits perfectly and idles smooth, just can't stress the alternator.
