This is a great rice cooker and worth every penny I paid for it. It literally freed up hours of my (crazy busy) week and helped me eat healthier and also helped me save money on buying lousy and unhealthy takeout food. I have cooked brown rice, sushi rice and even farro in this machine. (For farro, use the mixed grains setting and add a little more water and this is the best farro I've ever eaten in my life). The steam function is a little tricky to get ready on time - I hate overcooked veggies and this little machine heats up quickly so it took me a bit of trial and error to find the perfect time to steam my veggies. I was also able to cook sweet potatoes right in the cooking bowl, adding water to half cover the potatoes and then doing the white rice setting (there are a few youtube videos if you need a picture) - the best sweet potato, perfectly cooked and not raw at all. I haven't tried steamed chicken yet, but I think it's next on my list (sliced chicken for tacos, etc.). I will also try making chickpeas in this thing. It is very easy to clean (great time saver) - but please READ all instructions - there is a lot of really important information about cleaning the steam valve and associated parts. That. You MUST clean it every time you use it - there's no avoiding it, but cleaning is so easy it's not a problem.
