Review on πŸ”© LiftMaster Screw Drive Coupler 25C20 - Chamberlain Craftsman Garage Door Opener by Fernando Beck

Exact replacement for the Liftmaster clutch

The old clutch on my Liftmaster 1/2 HP screwdriver bit opener broke when I pushed the button to open the garage door. I knew it had to be some kind of gearbox failure as the engine was still running and the headlights were still on. A quick look on youtube led me to a plastic coupler that is a weak link in a system that absorbs shock and prevents the propeller or motor from breaking. Mine broke into about 8 pieces probably just from age and fatigue (the opener is 16 years old). I found this part on Revain and checked to see if it would fit. Installation was fairly easy, but it did require a socket wrench to loosen the screw guide from the opener and loosen the opener mounting collars so I could move them away from the guide to make room to insert the clutch in between. I had enough room to work about 6 inches from the ceiling with my opener set. Before installing the plug, I started the motor to make sure it was in the "down" direction, and then manually turned the screw to move the carriage all the way to the "down" position, so that the door moves to the "down" position. Direction. Correct direction and distance when reconnecting. After putting the clutch in, I lubricated the screw, springs and wheels to keep everything running smoothly. It worked well on the first try and only needed a small travel adjustment at both ends. The repair took less than an hour, the clutch works perfectly. I hope it lasts another 16 years or more.
