I have used them as motors in a robotic drummer. As you can imagine, this application required these motors to be driven very quickly and continuously. I figured that most likely these car door locks wouldn't work because they weren't really designed for that kind of function. I bought them because they were cheap and I was just trying to build a working proof of concept model before investing in more expensive components. Well, as expected, these engines overheated when run at full throttle. I can't remember what my fastest loop speed was, but it was pretty fast and I could easily keep up with most songs. I was also surprised that all 4 locks I tested matched their timings so well. They were all pretty similar in response time. With some voltage and current adjustments the setup worked fine and it was my motor driver that failed before these door locks. I was able to get out of tune for a few minutes before it started skipping beats and losing power. But again, it was an engine failure, not those door locks. After a cool down cycle I was able to hold out for a few more minutes without damage. For this drum project, these door locks worked great under torture. So I can't imagine that you will have any problem using them as car door locks as intended. They should easily survive any car you put them in.
