First, these aren't screens, they're solid plastic sheeting. They have no holes. For example, if I dry tomatoes for tomato powder, peppers for paprika powder, onion or garlic powder, cheese powder or other spices, I use these. I've also found some great recipes online for corn chips, cheese crackers, and other things to spread on dehydrator dishes. They work great! They are very easy to detach and carry to the sink for washing. I gently scrape the powdered contents into a bowl, then rinse out the trays. I've seen some reviewers use parchment or some other covering. I've never done this because they really don't stick. UPDATE: I just made some apple chips on this tray and some on other trays. They have crisped up equally on both pans. The benefit of using this strainer was that I could first place thin slices of apple on the tray and then sprinkle them with the cinnamon mixture (nothing got into the holes) rather than trying to toss the apples into the bowl and jar them evenly to distribute. coated.
