I like that it does NOT depend on suction cups. Rather, it has a nice locking mechanism that keeps the mounting post on the base. I'm so tired of suction cups that wear out or fall off with every change in outside temperature. The clamps have the right tension and hold my iPhone, TomTom and dashcam well. I love it so much I will be buying another one for my wife's van. I've seen where another review said it wasn't very stable, but I haven't had any stability issues. My dash cam video is stable. Also, there are four flexible paddles (sp?) at the base which came in handy on my Mazda6 as the dash is oddly shaped. I bend one petal up on the clock and the remaining three petals hold the bracket in place. In general, the purchase is very satisfied.
