Red Heart yarn is good value but not as soft as some other brands like Vanna's Choice yarn. I still love this yarn but having worked with the softer Vanna's Choice yarn on other projects I find it a little clumsy. One thing I've noticed about Red Heart yarn is that the darker the rich color, the stiffer the yarn. However, after washing, it will become softer. The color is rich, deep and even throughout the strand. I used 3 strands in a little burgundy blanket I made and 5 strands of lavender in a rabbit scarf and there was no difference in color from one to the other. You can't tell where one left off and I picked up the next. It was a pleasure to work with this yarn, it did not break and its thickness did not change. Being acrylic, it can be washed and machine dried (over and over) like a dream.
