Not suitable for families with multiple dogs

This is a fully automatic collar that reacts to loud noises - a loud pop can activate it. I bought this for my elderly Australian Shepherd who is now deaf. He's a very well-behaved boy, but since he can't hear anymore, he doesn't know when we recognize him unless he gives us a pointed look. He knows manual commands, but in order to obey them he must see them. He is a house dog but loves to be outside in his large garden. Unfortunately, whatever he felt as he walked behind the fence, he started barking and didn't hear me when I said his "quiet" or "to me" commands. He also started barking when we were having lunch. He will no longer go to his assigned "place" because I never taught him the gesture commands to do so. He's afraid that we won't hear his non-verbal communication because he doesn't hear when we talk to him. I tried this collar but we have multiple dogs. The collar is removed when the dog barks for any reason, including to play. I was hoping the collar would allow me to leave the door open so he could go in and out as he pleases and stop him from barking while we were eating, but instead it just confuses him because it's triggered when other dogs bark. or other loud noises so he can't narrow down the reason for his vibrations in order to learn to associate the vibrations with his own barking. Anyway, he started barking when he vibrated like it was a doorbell around his neck. I suspect the collar would be suitable for a single dog living in a quiet environment so I gave it a neutral three star rating. Unfortunately it is not suitable for our needs and I would not recommend it for house dogs, hearing or not. In case you're wondering we decided to just let him bark indoors whenever he wants and since I'm working from home due to the pandemic I just exercise with him on the patio when he wants to be outside, so I can pat him when he barks at passers-by.
