Great lock, easy to install but does require a bit of research

Received this lock this week to replace one I was not happy with. This was the right choice. I installed it in about 15 minutes. It looks good, feels secure, and for the most part feels like a quality product. I like the physical button lock in case the batteries run low (this lock was only there for a few days and the app battery indicator didn't budge from 100%). The keyboard is responsive and everything seems to be visible in the sun with no issues. The integration with the Smart Things Center went pretty smoothly. With a depth of 1" to the outer keyboard, it doesn't get in the way of my storm door (note those gaps, because I didn't think of that detail when I first bought the lock. I took care of that number this time to check). With all that being said, I deducted a star because I had to do a lot of research to program this lock. I had to do a lot of googling to get it working. There seems to be a gap between the people who designed/made the lock and the people who wrote the software for it. There was no manual with it. Google programming. Found a video. Looks good. It was helpful, but it took me another try to get it right. I don't like that all codes have to be the same length and you have to select that length before you adjust it, otherwise changing the length will erase all your previous codes. Why can't you just enter the code? Who cares how long each code is. We all have our secret numbers in our heads. Let's use the ones we want. After that, I proceeded to integrate with the Alexa app, which took a few tries. I was upset when he didn't find it right away. I came back a little later and somehow he found it and integrated it right into the app. After that, it was not difficult to make the necessary adjustments. I'm also surprised that this lock doesn't work with the Schlage app. Why not use your own app where all the features of this lock are conveniently located in one place? Probably because it's Z-Wave, not Wi-Fi. Just a small problem. The integration went well after Alexa found the lock. In general, the installation and integration process went pretty well, apart from a few details I missed that made the task difficult. Find an installation video and instructions on the Schlages website and you're good to go. I have enjoyed using this lock so far and would recommend it to others.
