Used to compress springs on a '69 Mustang. But there is an undocumented trick to make it work. Too much slack when the tool is supplied to allow it to compress the spring without sinking into the spring seat. The "trick" is to use a 3-4 inch piece of 3/4 pipe and a large washer or two. The tube must be inserted on a threaded rod between two clamps with a large washer between the tube and the small washers. supplied with the instrument. This eliminates the play between the two grippers and the tool can work. Worked fine after seeing this "trick" on YouTube. Otherwise it didn't work at all.
