Good system for SMB or Networking Pro. NOT for the average consumer

FIRST WARNING: NO NETGEAR TECH SUPPORT. WHEN YOU BUY A NETGEAR PRODUCT YOU ARE YOURSELF INDEPENDENT, SO YOU BETTER BE MORE THAN A HOUSEHOLD CONSUMER OR A TECHNICAL CONSUMER IF YOU CONSIDER PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT. That being said, if you have the know-how, this is a solid offering. by Nethir. Here are my thoughts. For example: has the features I want and need to support separate business, school, home, and guest networks through the same router and satellite hardware, allowing all connected devices to share a 500GB wireless connection with available bandwidth to be able to use. measure/control if necessary. Bandwidth over landline and Wi-Fi is as FAST as the available bandwidth provided by the modem. There are no bandwidth bottlenecks or slowdowns, apart from the limitations of the devices connected to the network. And unlike other networks, especially those with older equipment, that have a main router and signal boosters/repeaters, this system allows you to move from room to room and even between floors without signal or bandwidth loss or power outages. And overall management of this system is MUCH easier than previous multi-part network configurations IF you know how to log in through the web portal, configure and manage the network, log in to the router, and understand networks enough to set up your network properly with the built-in software . own network tools. Dislikes: This system is NOT user friendly for those who are not good at networking or using and accessing the firmware's own network software via the web portal and IP address access methods. This system is NOT generally consumer or semi-conscious user friendly. Also, and I found this the hard way after several failed attempts to follow the system setup instructions, this system is NOT fully compatible with ANY Netgear applications and will not even complete the basic system setup process with ANY of the listed compatible applications. . Attempting to use any of the Netgear apps (Orbi, Genie, Insight, etc.) as per the instructions in the user manual will result in the installation failing midway and the apps either crashing due to a conflict between the app and the native program or stuck application. system firmware. It takes a lengthy process of individually resetting ALL network devices (router and satellite(s)) to the original factory settings before attempting to repeat the process which failed at every character, one of 3 attempts I made with each of the apps which I was specified for use in the manufacturer's accompanying instructions. When I gave up ALL the apps and just "goed native" and went through the installation and setup process through the web portal and firmware, the whole process worked as expected and the whole system was up and running in about an hour. Once again, WARNING, THIS SYSTEM IS NOT EASY TO USE OR EASY TO SET UP OR ADMINISTRATE UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO ACCESS AND CONFIGURE THE NETWORK AND SATELLITES THROUGH THE WEB PORTAL AND IP ADDRESS, USING YOUR OWN INSTALLED FIRMWARE . It's a good buy, if not cheap, and will serve network gurus and SMBs or homes with their own IT department or employed IT professionals very well and probably for several years to come. It's one of those "investment purchases" that pays off in the value your business brings; In this case, everyone uses as much bandwidth as your modem can provide without Wi-Fi stuttering or speed drops, increasing productivity and employee satisfaction, and ultimately your bottom line. For regular consumers or those who don't have an IT department or IT/network professional on their payroll, this system is probably NOT for you. This is NOT a user friendly system and it will take a lot more than your "grandchild" or "tech savvy friend" to install and configure properly, especially if you want to take full advantage of this system. Much luck.

Pros
  • Like everyone else
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
