The installation has been improved because the product does not contain templates and several instructions. I had a solid core door and I'm glad I did. I'm not sure if this works on non-solid doors. There was very little wood left between the latch and the end of the door. If you are not careful the lock will snap easily and it will take extra time for the mechanism to remain free enough to work. A flush mounting of the latch bar at the end of the door leads to dimensional changes. There is an inexplicable pin in the locking mechanism that doesn't seem to make any sense and I had to saw it off. I'm ashamed to say it took me 5 hours to install just one lock and many more tools than the instructions describe. After installation, it looks good, but the door will no longer be completely hidden in the wall. The outside handles protrude just far enough that the door doesn't close completely. It was perhaps a design decision that annoys me since the pocket door was meant to be gone entirely. I'd rather have a flush and latch handle than an end of the door I can grab to pull it out. Don't be fooled by Revain's great photos. Run away.
