My family loves this large carafe! It's beautiful and works very well. We have a smaller carafe from the same company that we also love (Zojirushi AHGB-10SE Thermal Serving Carafe, 1.0 liter) because it has worked great for several years without any additional bells and whistles breaking. or malfunction. Since we were so happy with less but needed more, I went with the same brand/company. In the end it turned out to be a good choice! The design is simple but ingenious. We've been using it for over two weeks now and are very happy with it! Here's what I like about it: PROS: * You can just pour without twisting the lid to a certain point. He's just always ready to water, just like that. No buttons to push or lids to turn, no "cool" gadgets or add-ons that don't work properly or break after a while. * It pours at a comfortable "speed" and is very clean. When I stop watering, it stops dripping. We don't need this feature so I can't check that part, but tap water can easily overflow through the lid when I clean it. This one is silent all day! Wonderful! The lid releases excess steam to the outside. Since the lid is meant to be brewed right in the pot, it's open, but not really open, obviously allowing steam to escape and preventing whistling. There is a small hole in the center of the lid, not directly into the pot but into a channel that allows the coffee to flow into the pot. * Stay hot all day! Really amazing considering there is a hole in the lid. It's closed enough to keep the coffee hot. A NOTICE. If there is very little left, say a cup or two, it won't stay hot, it'll stay warm. I think that every time you pour a cup, that amount is replaced with room temperature air, gradually cooling the liquid. But that applies to every decanter. So if you pour into cups throughout the day, they will naturally cool inside. But when it's half full or even 1/3 full, it stays hot. * Has a rotating base, very smooth and easy to rotate, well designed. It's nice if you want to twist it a bit to reach the handle from a different direction. * Nice, easy to keep clean. I just wash it off and clean it with a bottle brush every now and then. Big inside, small lid. I wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth. It remains very pleasant. I didn't need a stainless steel cleaner. NEGATIVES: * I hesitate to say this because it's not a bug, it just wasn't designed for a travel carafe. BUT: It cannot be tipped over if you want to use it when traveling as it is not airtight due to the direct brew option. I don't think it's fair to shoot stars for that. You can't expect an apple to be an orange, but it's something to be aware of. It doesn't matter to us as we will only be using it at home, but you need to know if you need it when traveling. My family loves this carafe and would buy it again as a gift for someone. Excellent quality!
