These are beautiful, well-made knives that are a pleasure to use.

Hello. I bought this "Damascus Knife Set" a few weeks ago and use each of the knives in my kitchen at home for everyday cooking. Without giving too much away, I can say that each of these knives was a pleasure to use from the start. Below are my thoughts and impressions of this experience. I hope you find them useful. First impressions plus a little background. *These knives come in a visually stunning, tasteful presentation box that speaks well to the company's efforts to communicate its attention to detail. The knives are firmly fixed in custom molded cutouts on a high density foam backing. They are so secure in their foam mounts that I had to use the tip of a round plastic pen as a tool to pry them up and out. It was a bit of an effort to trade in for security like this (and it worked). * All five knives are visually striking and very beautiful. Each knife combines a mixture of optically contrasting elements. Polished high gloss bead and grip end cap and a matte black wood look composite grip. with a subtle but distinct and unique pattern of Damascus waves interspersed (pushed out?) in a semi-polished blade; * The blade is made of "AUS-10" stainless steel manufactured by the Aichi Steel Foundry in Japan. A session I spent online over two cups of coffee told me that: * AUS-10 is a high quality stainless steel often used for kitchen knives because of its desirable qualities: * The ability to hold a very sharp edge for a long time ; * fragility of its edge; * Easy sharpening; and * corrosion resistance/ability to resist staining. *During my research trips to AUS-10 I compared it to another prized steel "VG-10". I mention this because the comparison to VG-10 steel caught my attention as I currently own a Spyderco brand pocket knife with an extremely sharp and durable VG-10 ("Delica-4") blade. These illuminated AUS-10 blades bode well if they can be compared to the "VG-10". It's nice company.* Each of the five knives in the set is well balanced and feels comfortable in the hand. The oval handle is made from a G-10 composite (fiberglass + resin) which, when viewed at an angle to the light, reveals a textured pattern reminiscent of wood grain. This is an attractive effect. Notably, G-10 is used for the handles as it is a very strong and stable material used by manufacturers of high quality sporting, tactical and pocket knives. It's a plus that it's used here. * For sharpening. The rearmost blades of the 3.5" Paring Knife and 5" Utility Knife merge directly into the wide base of the blade(s). This transition of the cutting edge to a wider ridge means it will be difficult for the sharpener to get to the back of these two blades to sharpen them. For best results with these two knives, regularly use a steel sharpening steel to trim the cutting edges and a ceramic sharpening steel to re-sharpen when needed. The three other, larger knives in this all set have the same blade width from tip to heel and can be successfully sharpened or sharpened using the stick or through-hole method. Here you have more options. In conclusion, I would like to say that each knife in this set is a pleasure to hold and work with. These aren't light knives, but I never felt tired of them. To my surprise, after a short while I came to the conclusion that their handles are reassuring and prefer them to the lighter, similarly sized knives in my block. Both the 7" Santoku and the 8" chef's knife felt immediately comfortable in my hand and made a living. Simply put, these are the kind of tools that you can't help but smile when you pick them up. and know that you will enjoy it for a long time. Enjoy.
