Review on Wagner Z505 Brake Shoe Rear by Mike Snedeker

Revainrating 1 out of 5

A shoe is defective.

Check the Federal Mogul/Wagner brake system warranty. You only have a guarantee upon purchase. They will not send you any parts, even with proof of purchase. There were no problems on the left side. I went to the right side and the parking brake lever anchor pin was too short. The cleats are preinstalled on the rear/secondary big shoes. I tried to push the hairpin further with a smack and a kiddie sled, but it didn't budge. Either the cast metal of the pad was too thick or the bolt was too short. It is not possible to install a C-disk to hold the parking brake lever. If Wagner/Federal Mogul sent me a matching rivet I'd easily fix it, but they won't. A few important notes when you buy these shoes.1. These shoes did not come with C washers. C-discs cannot be reused. Brake kits include C-washers, or you can buy just C-washers. You will need two for the parking brake levers.2. Be careful not to lose or damage the e-clip that secures the adjustment lever. They are easy to remove and install. Mounting kits do not have E-clips. According to Toyota, the electronic clips cannot be reused, but as long as they are in good condition I don't see a problem with that.3. The shoes are EE certified. If you buy Toyota shoes (equivalent to 505), they also have an EE rating. Some aftermarket shoes are rated FF.4. The lining of these shoes is 3/16" thick.
