38 User Guide: If your TV supports ARC (Audio Return Channel) function (*), use only HDMI cable to connect to your TV. Use the ARC-compatible HDMI IN jack on the TV to connect. I bought a digital audio cable because my TV does NOT support ARC. My previous Onkyo receiver was a TX-904 which I bought in 1990. This new receiver is still pretty good. Download the user manual. It does not come with a printed copy. Also, connect Wi-Fi to your device to allow the device to update its firmware. The Bluetooth function is convenient for connecting a portable MP3 player.
