The shoes looked great and fit my 12 year old son. His first pair of shoes. Not sure what the problem is, I didn't feel like I overtightened them, but my son somehow left the cleat stuck in the pedal without having the shoe. I switched to two other shoe-threaded receivers in case the other one went off. I'm reasonably sure I didn't do anything wrong, I tried not to mix them up and they were snug but not too tight. He uses shoes, but we got a little scared when the spike got stuck.
