Change your bearings

This is my first time riding a longboard. Like others have said, the board has plenty of flex but I grew up on a fiberglass board decades ago, so this doesn't bother me. It actually helps to absorb bumps and provide stability in my opinion, like a shock absorber. I'm 6'2" and about 210 and reasonably athletic for a well-seasoned dude and I'm quickly becoming comfortable on this deck. Other reviews have noted the tight plastic wrapping upon delivery, but mine arrived in a large clear bag. My belief is that it was previously returned, but there was no wear to indicate prior usage. The nuts on all the wheels and the kingpins were relatively loose and required tightening/adjusting. So I'm tooling around, trying to rekindle that muscle memory when I hear an awful grinding sound. Back in the day I recall catching a pebble every now and then and I had assumed this is what happened, but when I looked down I see a missing wheel. As the nut was still attached to the truck, and the nylon ball holders and one of the bearing caps was still hanging on the truck as well, I can only assume I was the victim of a seized bearing. All told, for the price, I'm very satisfied. Just check or replace your bearings for a better experience.

Pros
  • Durable and long-lasting design
Cons
  • The bearings may require regular cleaning to prevent rust
