I am an experienced watercolourist. I studied art in college, but after not painting for many years, I started painting again. I've tried many paints, from cheap to expensive, from liquid to pots, tubes, etc. So far these paints are my favorites. they can be of poor quality. I mean, who buys paints with a ridiculously famous artist's name on them? It's like buying a frozen meal named after your favorite chef. You know it can't be compared to reality. However, after rekindling my love of watercolor I started with some colors and didn't get good results. To be honest, I thought it was because I didn't exercise at all. But I just wasn't satisfied with my work. The colors seemed too fake, too garish, and I couldn't get a lot of texture and detail. I was having big troubles with color manipulation so I decided to change up the colors. I've tried 6 other brands of paint and none of them gave me the results I wanted until I tried this one. That's the most important thing for me on the toilet. Colors are three things. Transparency, performance (more on that later), and tints. Transparency is a matter of course. Chalk watercolor is the worst. You will never get good results unless you can easily layer colors on top of each other. Ease of use: This is where it gets tricky. I like the ability to remove color from the paper if it's doing something I don't like or add highlights. I also like the ability of colors to flow a bit and form natural textures, which makes watercolor a unique medium. This color does exactly that. You can always go back and touch up areas etc. I warn you that reds bleed more than other shades so keep that in mind. Some people don't like it. Some prefer the paint to stay where they left it and want to be able to wash it off directly over the painted areas. It's difficult with Van Gogh. Even after drying, the paint reacts to moisture that gets on it. But I like that you can repeat areas multiple times. If you want something a little more stable, try Windsor Newtons. They tend to stay in place more; or you can try ink that is waterproof once dry. I like natural colors. I find shades that are too bright or almost fluorescent to be very unpleasant, as your work may look like it was done with colored pencils. The colors in this set are great. They're light, don't get me wrong, but they look natural. The only downside to this set is the lack of a true purple hue and a beautiful magenta color. I make a lot of colors and I've found that you can't mix a good purple with the reds and blues in this set. You can't get good magenta either. As such, you may need to purchase a few extra tubes of these shades. Otherwise these colors are great. Very good quality, fantastic performance and great, lifelike colors.
