It should also be treated like a scientific instrument, because it is a scientific instrument

I've been using this reliably for over a year. Batteries replaced once. Dropped in the water multiple times, still works. I have kept the calibration fluid in jars and have been reusing them for over a year. I see a lot of negative feedback from people who don't understand that this is a temperature calibrated pH meter and therefore it takes some time for the sensor to reach equilibrium temperature with the solution. Yes, you may have to wait 5 minutes to get an accurate reading if you take it out of the fridge and put it in hot water, and you won't have to wait more than a few seconds if your sensor is at room temperature and about to. Your decision. You should also treat it like a scientific instrument because it is a scientific instrument. This requires the tip to stay wet, so just do it. Make sure the probe is touching the sponge and that the sponge is wet. You also need to clean it regularly. I use alcohol when it sticks together and then recalibrate. If your batteries are low or dead, readings will be inaccurate. I gave it 5 stars because it's the same as those $200 hydrometers but $50.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Not everything fits
